So the company is set to go with Windows Phone as its primary smartphone strategy in the future…. Wow! A joint open letter from Nokia CEO Stephen Elop and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer sets the record straight about the new partnership. The most important thing is that both companies will share their expertise in the partnership and, I must admit, both companies will benefit from it. Nokia’s hardware could bring a lot of credibility to Microsoft’s platform, while Microsoft will be able to develop Windows Phone 7 in a much more focused way. Nokia Maps will be used for navigation and Bing will be the search engine (this could be a bit of a turnoff for some, but they’ll get over it… :) ). What could be said? I, for one, can’t wait to see what comes out of this. For Microsoft’s mobile operating system, this is probably the best thing that could have happened, after a rather sloppy start. Honestly it’s probably the smartest thing Ballmer has done in years. It’s hard to say who needed this deal more. Nokia, or Ballmer….
